Painting outside this summer
Hi there! As we move into Fall here I looked over some of my plein air pieces from the summer. I painted outside almost every week, sometimes on 90+ days, whew! This might be my favorite piece from this summer. One of the challenges to painting outside is choosing a subject quickly, cropping it to fit your canvas and not chasing the light. Sometimes you fight it and sometimes it is a joy. This one just kind of painted itself, I completed it in a hour and half. When I saw that red Chevy truck poking out of there with the sunlight hitting it I just knew I had to give it a go. This is oil on a 8" X 10" canvas, my favorite size to paint outside. Thank you for checking in.
