Merry Christmas
Hi Friends, this is the painting I used for my Christmas cards this year. I enjoy painting the image I use for my cards each year. Because I won't be mailing one to all of you I wanted to share it on here and wish you all a very Merry Christmas. Have a safe holiday and I'll be back soon.

Still life
Hi Friends, I have worked on this painting off and on for a few months. The background color changed a few times. Lately I have been enjoying painting lighter backgrounds, I like the softness. I like the idea of lost edges blending into the background. This is oil on a 11" x 14" canvas.
I uploaded a few images to FineArt America tonight, you can order prints or cards using my images but I haven't figured it out completely. I ordered some cards to check out the quality of them, I'll let you know.
Also just a reminder that I have a collection of paintings on my website for only $50, the link is to your right.
So great to see you

Fresh Fruit
Hi there! Sorry I haven't posted the last few weeks, we just came from back from a stay in Siesta Key. So great to get away from the cold, I'll have to hang onto those warm memories to get me through our long winter.
SOLD
This little painting is a 5" x 7" canvas painted in oils. I picked up this grapefruit in back of our condo in Siesta Key and these little orange fruits looked just like oranges to me though tiny. Painting the leaves was the most fun. Do you know what the tiny little orange fruits are?

Small ones
Hello friends! All of these are little 6" x 8" oil paintings. I recently bought a case of gold frames this size so I've been setting up some still lifes to paint. Time to buy more fresh flowers, it really excites me to paint real flowers.
In a few weeks I plan to run a sale on my website, I'll let you know.

Sunflowers
Hello there! Sure cooling off here but I love Fall with all the changing colors.
Last week I painted 5 paintings with daisies and yellow mums until they died. I bought some sunflowers and have done three paintings using them and this is one of those. I am having a ball painting with fresh flowers instead of silk.
This is oil on a 8" x 10" panel.
So nice of you to check in on me. 😄

Fresh Flowers
Hi Friends, my birthday was Monday and my sister brought me a bouquet of flowers. I took some Tuesday when I painted with my group and painted this, oil on a 8" x 10" canvas. I have done two more paintings since using these flowers and different vases. I have lots of wonderful silks but the real thing is the way to go, lesson learned. I'll be buying fresh flowers when I can.

Still Life
Hi there! I just completed this, I set this up and painted from life. This is oil on a 16" x 20" canvas. I paint a lot of dark backgrounds but felt like I wanted to lighten things up. I think I'm pretty happy with this but I'm at the "lookin at it stage" hehe.

"Look this Way"
This oil painting measures 8" x 10" , painted from a reference photo I took this summer.
I paint with two different groups and we critique in both. Critiques can be so helpful as we don't always see things with our little faces up against our canvases. Anyway I took this for one of the group critiques and I had painted trees behind the cows and it just wasn't working for me. I had brushed them out and at that point I had a dirty looking sky behind the cows. One of the people in my group suggested I just paint in some clean sky color at the top and nothing else. I like the very subtle suggestion of trees in the background now. After all of this yapping I just wanted to say to get in on a group critique if possible or find someone who's work you respect and ask them. They may come up with something you wouldn't consider doing on your own.
Available on my website, link is to your right.

Assorted Fruits
Hi there! I recently purchased a few Langnickle brushes and I love them. I set up this still life to try out my new brushes. They are soft and I thinned my paints a bit. I love the soft edges I get with these brushes. I have heard Rosemary brushes are wonderful also, I plan to try a few of those eventually too.
This painting is oil on a 8" x 10" canvas and is available on my website, the link is to the right.
So nice of you to visit.

Santas Santas Santas
Hi there! I have been busy painting things to put in the co-op for Christmas. These little Santas are wood and about 3" square, I will add a corded hanger to each and varnish them. I like that each little guy looks a bit different from the next.

The little sheep painting and wren are available on my website, the link is to the right.

I love baby shoes
I just love painting little shoes. I purchase them at Thrift stores and paint them. These little Mary Janes belonged to my cousin though, about 50 yrs. old. What can be cuter than baby shoes? Well babies feet of course, lol. Maybe I should paint those? Hmm

New Website
I wanted to announce that I set up a new website today. I have added several paintings but will continue to improve it. Please check it out and let me know what you think. I love my blog and try to post a couple of times a week but I needed someplace where you could look at a large body of work and purchase things. So wish me luck, hoping it's a good move.

Teapot & Cherries revised
As you can see I changed the background color of the last painting I posted. I just felt everything was too cold and it needed more color. Backgrounds are always challenging and once I posted it I thought "it's just not pretty" So what do you think? Improved? Should I head back to the easel? Painting is so hard, lol. I love it and the challenging part of it keeps me coming back.

Teapot & Cherries
Hi there, I recently finished this, painted from a set up. This is oil on a 12" x 12" stretched canvas. I love this old teapot and cherries are always such fun to paint.

Demo at co-op
Hi there, Last night was Third Thursday at the Artist Lounge, the new co-op here in town that I display in. We take turns each month demonstrating and last night was my turn. I set up a still life with a blue and white pitcher and fresh fruit. I set it up in a box with a light on it, trying to block light coming in from everywhere. Always makes me a bit nervous to paint in front of a crowd but I enjoyed it. I did end up taking out a couple of the oranges toward the end, it felt too busy. I am looking at it today and I may do a little more work on it. It is oil on a 11" x 14" canvas.

Quick Draw
I had such a great day today! I went to Waynesville Ohio and competed in a Quick Draw. We had three hours and you can draw or paint. I chose to paint and completed a 8" x 10" in two hours. Sometimes I think it's best to quick early and chance picking it to death just because you have time. I framed my very wet oil painting and set it on my easel. I won! Feels so great to be coming home a winner. It's up and down with this painting life, something good happens and then rejection. Today's a wonderful day!

Big Foot canvas
Hi Friends, for the last several months I have been playing around with this very cool canvas. This canvas is called a Big Foot canvas and you can find it online at bigfootcanvas.com. At this time he has only created the one size 16" x 24". It comes with this hardwood frame and as you can see it's curved. I believe there is a YouTube video available too where you can get a better look at it. I just had to try it and I felt it should have a landscape on it so you could kind of walk around the scene. I painted it over probably five times, I started with acrylics and finished in oil. Now I have to decide how to finish the frame that it fits into. It was a fun challenge and I think I am pretty happy with it.

Palette knife
Hi there, sorry I haven't posted in a while but I have been very busy. I have a few paintings that aren't quite finished, I did a plein air event this past weekend and other assorted things.
I did this today, I had the urge to play around with a palette knife. I normally use the palette knife a bit for most of my paintings but this one was all palette knife and I smoothed the background out a bit with a brush. This is oil on a 8" x 10" stretched canvas. Sorry it's a bit blurry.

Chasing the light
Hello Friends! Tonight I looked out on my deck and the setting sun was hitting a pot of red geraniums. I had this urge to try and catch that wonderful glow hitting the edge of the blooms. My hubby laughed as I ran through the house collecting my painting gear. I set up on the deck and captured this in maybe twenty minutes. This is oil on a 8" x 10" stretched canvas. How'd I do?

Plein air today
Hi, I painted outside today with The Brush & Palette Painters. We painted at a wonderful farm in Indian Hill in Cincinnati. There were sheep and pigs and chickens walked around us while we painted. Painting outside comes with big challenges and most often I am not too pleased with what I paint but I'm pretty happy with this one. This is oil on a 8" x 10" RayMar panel, I have a carrier from RayMar for wet paintings.
Thanks for visiting

A couple of Little ones
Hi there, I painted these two little paintings yesterday, both are acrylic on 4" x 4" stretched canvases. The last two little wrens I painted sold pretty quick. Someone brought the little purple irises yesterday and they were painted pretty quickly but I like the freshness of it.
Painted outside again today, it didn't survive, lol. Doesn't bother me much if a painting doesn't work, that's just part of it. Scraped off the heavier paint and I will paint over it.
Thank you for visiting!

Hollyhocks
Hello, I recently purchased this frame and because of the unusual size I had my hubby cut me a panel for it. I needed the canvas to measure 6" x 18" and that sure isn't a standard size. I originally thought maybe a landscape or a row of pears but then I decided to turn it vertically and paint Hollyhocks. This is oil with some nice texture in there. I have an art in the garden event in August so I think flower paintings should do well there?

Sunflowers in Jar
Hi Friends, since my workshop I have been working in oils and really enjoying them. I plan to purchase another palette box for acrylics so I am ready to go with either one. I enjoy both and both have their advantages. I know some people do a under painting in acrylics and then add oil over that. I can understand doing that because you can adjust the acrylics so quickly and figure out exactly where you want to go. You get muddy colors if you start changing things with the oils.
This is oil on a 10" x 10" stretched canvas. I started this one with a value painting and then let it dry, my intention was to glaze over that. It worked really well for the jar but I ended up painting in the flowers and background though.

Plein Air Painting
Hello there, as I mentioned several weeks ago I recently joined The Brush and Palette Painters. I paint on Monday with one group and Tuesdays with the other. Brush and Palette move outside during the warm months so I should do a lot more plein air painting this year.
We painted outside yesterday and I really enjoyed it. I tried to use a lot of the techniques from my workshop last weekend. I sketched out my subject, figured out my values, sketched my composition on my canvas and pre-mixed my colors. Trying to slow down and really think things out.
The yellow field really drew me in and it was such fun to paint. This is oil on a 8 x 10 RayMar panel. I love the RayMar panels, they are museum quality, lightweight and I have one of their panel carriers so it's easy to get my wet paintings home.
See you soon

Hibiscus
Hi there! Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there, it's a beautiful day here.
This pink Hibiscus was painted a few weeks ago, it is acrylic on a 8" x 10" stretched canvas. Sorry I didn't get it squared up in my photo so I couldn't crop it close enough.
I have a question, if you follow my blog or have your email address entered in my Google Group box do you receive my posts by email? I assumed my posts were going out by email but not sure that is happening. Fellow bloggers, do you have that option on your blog? If so what do you use to make that happen? I am planning to give away a small painting soon but I want the benefit of knowing people are signing up to receive my posts. Thanks in advance for any help you might offer.

Bill Fletcher Workshop
Hi there! I have been very busy. Thursday night I got a call that they had a cancellation for A Bill Fletcher's workshop. I said ok and tried to pack up everything I thought I might need. The workshop was Friday, Saturday and Sunday 9:30 to 4:30 . This was a landscape workshop in oils. Bill is an excellent teacher and I would highly recommend him. We did not get a lot of paintings done but we did a lot of different exercises. For example we would mix piles of different colors but the same value to see how close we could come. We divided our canvas up into fourths and did a block in, that is what the two small paintings are. The next day I did the little 5 x 7 landscape. The last day we went outside to paint, I painted this little white building. Last night I went back into it and just had some fun suggesting chipped paint and vines growing up the building, this is 8" x 10".
Monday I painted with Arts Aliance Painters and Tuesday I went to Ky. To paint outside with The Brush and Palette Painters. Whew I'm busy, ain't life great!
So good of you to visit, thank you!

Ballerina
Hi there, this ballerina was fun to paint, painted in acrylics on a 11" x 14" stretched canvas. I started out with my very wet background and placed the skirt into that. Once that was dry I painted in her torso and head. I think it is finished but I will look at it for a while. I even added some metallic paint in the wet background.
My show this weekend was great. It was not well attended but I met some wonderful people and had nice sales, thank you to those that attended.
This Friday night I have an opening in Evendale Ohio, the opening is always well attended.

Little Wren
Hi Friends, I painted this little 4" x 4" painting yesterday. I will be framing it for a show this weekend. I will be at the Montgomery Woman's Antique & Art Show. Taking a lot of small affordable things hoping for sales. I would love it if you stop by.

Pink Lilies
Hello there! I painted this recently from a set up. It is always a fun challenge to paint white. I used the Golden Opens, these are acrylic paints that dry much slower. I like to change things up. They seem a little stickier than say oils but you can blend them better than regular acrylics. If you squirt out a puddle of the Golden Opens and let them sit out they would stay wet a couple of days. This is painted on a 8" x 10" canvas.

Wine Bottles
Hi there, I am not a wine drinker but I grab up great looking wine bottles when I see them. I especially love the blue bottle. This is acrylic on a 8" x 10" stretched canvas. I debated about adding names to the labels and tried it over and over but was never happy with it and I thought that was where your eye would go.
Thank you so much for checking out my new work
Available at Gallery 42 in Mason Ohio.
