Street performer #2

Well I worked on this again today and maybe it is done, hmmm. May be too much yellow in the background, not sure. I worked on the hat and added more color to his face. I am liking it better, hope you do. Appreciate your input on his progress.

Don't know about too much yellow - I think it's great. And the hat is so 'alive' is the only word I can think of.

Hi Liz, Glad you like it, I think I am finished. Just a little tweaking, we all know about that. "Alive", I like that

Hi Barbara,
I like this version better than the previous, I think that touch of yellow on the background is fine.
Thank you for leaving such a kind comment on my blog, you made my day!
Best regards,
Carolina

Nice - I think this is my favorite head paintings of yours. Rich color. I would suggest slight variations of warm and cool colors in the hat and blue shirt/coveralls. A master of this is Dan Gerhartz. He modulates slight changes in warm and cool colors in his clothing.

Non the less, a wonderful painting, Barbara.

Thanks so much Bill, I will take a look at Dans work. I respect your opinion so it means a lot that you like it.

I like the changes you have done! The hat works much better now. Darkening values and softening edges has helped also. Richard Schmid once advised to keep ALL edges soft until the very last...then carefully select which ones needed accented for the painting. I really like that tip!

I'm so glad you like the changes Dean. I know you don't want to tighten up too early or it becomes too precious and you find yourself working around that area. If I could do all the things I know and make my hand behave, lol. Richard is the king isn't he?

Wow! I love this guy! You've captured so much I can hear him singing. I do like the yellowish background better. It makes the figure pop out much more than the blue.

Thank you Anita, glad you like it. I do like the warmer background, amazing the difference the color makes.

Your changes improved your painting in many ways. The darker background gives the singer volume, the yellow adds warmth and brings out the skin tones making them look warm and alive, and your further work on his face gives him more expression and movement and color greatly improved!
Grandpa Elliot would be proud!
Great U-tube, it certainly is inspirational. Really great work!

I really do appreciate that Marilyn, I am pretty pleased with him too. Hopefully the judge will appreciate him as well. Glad you stopped by :)
