Chicken framed

Hi there, I had a lot of fun painting this chicken, used a palette knife for a lot of it. This is a 10 x 10 stretched canvas framed in a wood gold cracked frame. I like this square format for certain things and I think it works well for this. This is available to purchase, contact me if you think you might be interested at barbarapask@zoomtown.com

Tuckers Whippy Dip- plein air

Hi there, This painting was done on site, two very hot evenings across from the whippy dip. Tuckers is one of the most popular places around, they serve fantastic soft serve ice cream. Such a cute little place with bright trim and I love the umbrellas. The blue and white building to the left is the car wash. This is oil on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas.

The Williams House-plein air

Hello there, This is one of the paintings I did recently in town plein air. The sun came out of the clouds just before it set and I had a wonderful orange glow in the windows. This one was done on Church St. in Mason, this house belongs to the Williams. I showed the completed painting to them and they are going to purchase it once it dries for a bit. A gorgeous old home, just had it 100th year anniversary. This is oil on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas. Enjoy your weekend! SOLD

Two of my paintings are hanging in the Cincinnati art museum

Hello there, I had a wonderful day. I visited the Cincinnati art museum with my hubby, daughter and grandson. They are having several temporary displays this summer and the whole event is called "See America". Anyone that was in our local arts council had the opportunity to submit work to be considered for one of their displays and they chose two of mine. It is such a thrill to hang in the museum. The first photo shows the sign displayed that explains the show. The second photo is of my landscape and myself and the third is my cute redheaded grandson and my other painting they included.

I'll be outside again tomorrow painting with my group, we have been trying to get out at least once a week but have to work around the rain and heat. See you soon.

Still life- copper teapot

Hi there, Here is another still life I painted recently. I purchased this sweet little copper teapot at a antique store not too far from here. Not quite sure you would consider this gentleman a dealer as much as you would a "hoarder", lol. It is packed full of treasures and I don't think he cares of he sells them or not. This is oil on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas.

August is getting to be a busy month. Several deadlines for submissions, a paint out and a wonderful event where I was invited to display and demo. Have a few commissions in the works too. If you are interested in a commission contact me for pricing. I paint pet portraits or house commissions.

Still life-antique tea pot

Hello, I painted this Monday from a set up, I went very dark with the background and like the effect. Once varnished the darks in this will look great, darks in a oil painting really dry flat until they are varnished. This is oil on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas. Once dry I will varnish it with Soluvar varnish, a quality varnish by Liquitex.

I recently posted a few paintings on Etsy again, Ebay really slows down in the summer. Do you have luck with either or do you have some other place you like to list?

At the Fair

Hi, I painted this a few weeks back from a photo my daughter had taken at the fair. A loose impressionistic version of her photo with my red headed grandson and his friend in the seat on the left. The faces are tiny and I didn't want too much detail in them. This is oil on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas.

The weather is soooo hot, in the 90's all week. Some of my group is painting out tomorrow evening, hoping to avoid the heat of the day if that's possible. So we are meeting at 7 in the evening, I told them to bring lots of water to drink. Soon enough I will be back to complaining about the cold, lol.

If you wish to receive an email when I do a new post on my blog please enter your email in the google group square on the left.

Red Brick Home-plein air

Hi there, We have a wonderful artist named Chuck Marshall who lives in our town and he is trying to get artists to paint outside on our main street all summer. He wants to bring more awareness to the arts and I'm all for that. So several people from my Monday morning group has been getting out there at least once a week. All of the pieces have to completed on site and I think in August they will display our pieces in a gallery in town. I have completed 4 so far and am having a great time, little hard not to play with them when you get them home, lol. This is one of the gorgeous old houses on Main St., I loved the shape of the roof line. This is oil on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas, if you keep up with me you know most of my paintings are that size. It's a nice size for painting plein air, not too large but can look impressive in a nice frame.

Happy 4th of July! **** Those are fireworks, lol.

I continue to learn things about this blogging world. I have discovered that if you just follow my blog you don't receive and email when I make a new post. So if you would like to be notified when I post you need to put your email address into that little box for google groups. Thank you
