Pink Geraniums
Hello Friends, I was at the store a few days ago and they had a nice display of potted flowers out. I grabbed up all of the little pots of these wonderful pink geraniums. I wanted to keep the background very loose with a wash of color so the focus would be the flowers. I set up three little pots and here is my finished painting. Please enlarge the painting to view it, the colors are much more true for some reason. This is acrylic on a 11" x 14" stretched canvas. My group Mason Area Painters will be having a month long show in June called The Language of Flowers, I may put this one in the show.

Spring Flowers
Hello there, I decided to practice and paint a few of the flowers that aren't around very long in the spring. I cut a daffodil and painted it on a 5" x 7" panel, kicked it up a little and stenciled a pattern around it when I finished. I painted some forsythia branches too, first time I have tried that. I noticed when I finished the branches created a cross shape and I kind of liked it so I left it. This one is painted on a 8" x 10" canvas. Both are acrylic and available to purchase.

Small adjustments and a name
Hello there, Well I think I have a name for this painting, "Empty Nest". Do you like that? The reason I am posting it again is to show you some small changes I made. Photographing your work and looking at it online is such a great tool. I felt I was done with this painting and pretty happy with it. If you compare it to my last post you can hopefully see the adjustments I made. I kept looking at the photo of it and felt the crock looked to almost square off on the bottom right and the value on the right side was a bit light. I darkened that area and rounded off the crock and I pulled up the lip of the crock a bit too. Now I think it is done, unless you see something I missed. I have really slowed down with my work spending much more time and trying to put more thought into design. I mean what's the rush? right? lol
Have a wonderful day and check out my Ebay auctions.

Still life
Hi there, A recently completed still life, I struggle with names so I am open to suggestions. I have several bird nests sitting out on my potting bench, I just love all the intricate work that goes into them. Anyway I finally brought one in to paint and this painting other than the bird nest went through many changes. Started with a blue and white vase, then it became a black and blue jar and then I chose this crock. The bird was a wren and then I wanted something with more color so settled on the Blue Tit and of course the background changed colors several times. I find that I really enjoy dark backgrounds and the drama it creates in a painting. This is acrylic on a 11" x 14" stretched canvas. I hope you enjoy seeing it.

New painting and I am a guest on a blog
Good Morning Friends, A gal I went to school with Sharon Durbin Graves interviewed me for her blog this week. She is featuring a different artist each Monday and today it is me. I knew Sharon in high school but we didn't "hang" together, lol We found each other on facebook a few years back and realized we share a love for art. So check out her blog and maybe comment, such a great way to discover new artists. Follow this link to check out Sharon's blog. Thank you Sharon, you are sweet to promote other artists.
Well I love new thrift store finds and I found these sweet little shoes a few days ago at a local thrift store. Such fun to paint. I kept the painting small as it felt right with the subject being so tiny. This is acrylic on a 5" x 7" canvas. I am offering this little painting with a buy now option. Only $50 and free shipping if you are in the continental US. "Red Shoes"

Spring is Here!
Hello Friends, Well I think Spring is here at last. I just love it, everything is budding and daffodils blooming. I don't have daisies blooming in my yard but this made me thing of spring. Sorry I haven't been posting quite as often lately. I have been painting all the time but some of them are larger and I am taking more time with my work than I used to which is a good thing I think. I am enjoying putting more detail into them, working on another still life and adding a bird and nest to it. This is painted on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas. Email me if you would be interested in purchasing it at barbarapask@zoomtown.com

Wren
Hi there, I painted this little painting from a reference photo on Paint My Photo, a great site where photographers and painters come together. This is acrylic on a museum quality Raymar panel, measures 6" x 6". I just love painting birds and this one with his little tail in the air was just too cute. Their little feet are so interesting too. I am offering this on a buy now option, $70 and free shipping. It includes a black wood easel to sit it on. I ship only within the continental US.
