Baby Shoes for my niece

Hi there, My niece is ready to give birth any day now to two little girls. I am beyond excited as it has been 18 years since a little girl was born in our family and now we get two. We had a baby shower for her a while back and of course I purchased many of the things off her registry but I wanted to give her a little something when the babies were born. She loved Winnie the Pooh when she was little and I saw these baby shoes at a thrift store a while back and thought how cute these would be to paint for her. The babies room is green with bright pink accents so as you can see I painted the background green and added pink details. I think the white frame works and I am hoping she will love this. This is acrylic on a 8 x 10 canvas. Bought her a precious antique pink elephant vase too, going to put some tiny flowers in that when the time comes. Have a wonderful day

A Secret

Hello Friends, I haven't posted in a week or so, I have been pretty busy lately. Last Saturday night I was the featured artist at a local gallery and then Sunday was my birthday and the opening of the Woman's Art Club member show. I painted Monday and then we left camping that afternoon. Whew, life is good. These 2 little 5 x7 paintings were submitted to "Secret Artworks". Secret Artworks is part of Artworks in Cincinnati an organization that does many many things including among them is painting murals all over the city. Secret Artworks happens annually and it is by invitation only so I am pleased to be a part of it. One evening in November people purchase tickets that give them a open bar, unlimited snacks and they get to choose a little painting. I donate the paintings and do not sign them on the front so they do not know the artist until they choose their little painting. I have done this event for the last 4 or 5 years and it is really fun to watch the crowd rush in and look for a specific painting as they have them online to preview and for a week in the Westin Hotel to view. Thanks for visiting me, I was talkative today wasn't I? lol Sorry about that.

"Fields of Yellow"

Hello there, I had fun painting this, I used a pastry brush for most of it and then came in at the end and added the clouds with a smaller brush. There is a gentleman I have watched paint online several times and he uses only a pastry brush, he does some amazing things with that brush. I think trying new things can spark something new in us. This is acrylic on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas. I am offering it on a buy now option, $65 plus $5 shipping anywhere within the continental US. Standard size to frame, very easy.

Still Life with Apple

Hi there, Last Monday my group and I painted still lifes. I think painting from life is the very best thing we can do as artists. Photos are fine to paint from and sometimes we have no choice but to see an object in 3-D is so much better. I find still lifes to be wonderful to paint, you can design your painting by the choice of props and the way you set them up and decide about your light source and direction. I completed this pretty much during our session and it was fine, by fine I mean a good depiction of my set up but it was a bit boring. I brought it home and laid on heavier paint and pushed it around creating much softer edges and I like it much better now. This is acrylic on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas. I am offering this on a buy now option through paypal for $65 plus $5 shipping anywhere within the continental US. This is a standard size and very easy to frame.

Colors of Fall

Hi there, On my trip to Tennessee we stayed near the home of Laura and painted in her wonderful large studio. She sent me home with a box of assorted items and one of them was this very cool brush. It is kind of like a scrub brush, you don't paint with it you apply the paint and push it around with this. I have been working on a larger painting using the brush, adding layer after layer and scrubbing it around. I used the brush on this smaller painting too and I like the effect, soft and loose. This is acrylic on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas. I am offering it with a buy now option through Paypal for $65 and $5 shipping anywhere within the continental US.
Have a wonderful day, Fall is here.

Flowers in Ball jar

Hello there, I have painted this little green jar many times but I love it, it's like a little jewel. I started with a much more saturated background but ended up graying down the color and it makes the more saturated colors just pop. I remember reading an article in a art magazine by Scott Burdick and someone wanted to know what shade of red he had used in one of his paintings. They thought he wasn't being honest as their red did not look like his even though it was the same color. His red popped because he surrounded it with grayed down colors. This is acrylic on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas. This is available on a buy now option through Paypal. It comes to you unframed and is $65 with $5 shipping anyplace within the continental US. Thank you for visiting.
