Old Crock & Pears

Hello, I painted this still life from a set up. This is the third time I have painted this crock in different set ups and the other two sold. So maybe this is my lucky crock, hehe. I really liked the reflection of the yellow pear in the crock. This is oil on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas and this one is listed on Ebay framed until Tuesday evening.

Susan Carlin's workshop

Hello, This past Saturday I did an online workshop with Susan Carlin. It was a fantastic day and well worth the money spent. We started out the day at 10am my time and ended at around 7:30 that evening. A long day but so rewarding. I have taken many workshops, some online and some in person. I have found the online workshops to be much more satisfying and this one was no exception. We painted this still life and I am happy to say that is my painting in the background of the sunflowers, Susan purchased it from me a while back. I have one of my paintings in my painting, lol. So here is my finished painting, oil on a 11 X 14 Raymar panel. The tea cup should be your focal point but it was so fun painting that Mason jar. Check out Susan's work, there is a link to her blog here in the side bar. She will be doing more workshops in the future and I highly recommend them. Have a great day!

Gorman's farm

Hello there, I painted this last weekend while sitting at the art fair. This farm once belonged to the Gormans and I believe it was donated to the city of Sharonville, Ohio. They have wonderful programs for children there and beautiful gardens. This is the old original house and there are other barns and out buildings still on the property.

I really tried to leave soft edges on this one so it was very painterly, this is oil on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas.

I am looking forward to a fun weekend, my Monday group didn't get together last Monday because of the weather so some of us are meeting tomorrow morning. Saturday I am taking Susan Carlin's online workshop, we are painting a still life and I just know it will be great. She is very concerned about giving us a great workshop, she already recorded a lot of information for us to review even before the workshop begins.

I hope you have a great weekend too. :)

The opening of "The Kiss"

Hello, Last night was the opening of "The Kiss". This exhibit was open to all artists and all mediums. The first photo is me and my version of the kiss is above my head, the other photos are some of the gals in my group that participated standing by their paintings. It was fun and great to see everyones work. Not surprising I did not agree with the judges choice. First place was an amazing pastel that had nothing to do with Klimt's painting. Second place was most upsetting, it went to a photograph that I would consider pornographic that once again didn't have anything to do with "The Kiss". I personally feel that photos should not be judged next to paintings, the two are miles apart in my view. I hope I don't sound bitter, I was pleased to be included in the show and art is so subjective. One of our gals painted an outfit to go with the theme, she painted her shoes and a little purse to match her outfit also. I promised to post some photos from the show, hope you enjoy seeing them.

Tea Time

Hello there, I painted this last week from a set up. I typically keep it simple when I paint a still life but I wanted to do something a little more complicated. This is oil on a 11 x 14 stretched canvas. I think it is finished but I may go back in for a few more touches.

The opening for "The Kiss" is Saturday night, I'll take some photos to share with you.

Susan Carlin is offering an online workshop on February 20th, we will be painting a still life with two critiques. I will be taking it, looking forward to it. Susan is an excellent painter if you aren't familiar with her work there is a link to her here on my page. I have taken several online workshops and it was a great experience.

Winter Corn

Hello there, The art fair was yesterday, Saturday. We set it up Friday and then because of all the snow we were concerned with getting back there Saturday morning. The crowd was small because of the snow but I sold 4 pieces and may have 2 commissions, so it was a good day. I painted during the event too so you know I enjoyed that.

This is in oil on a 14 x 18 stretched canvas, I combined two photos for this painting. The house and barns were in one and the winter cornfield in another. Enjoy your Sunday

Old Country Church

Hello, Good news first, my painting of "The Kiss" did get accepted into the gallery here in town. I'm so pleased, the show will open the 13th for Valentines day and hang for about a month. I have already started working on another one for their next competition.

This painting was done from a photo of a old church, once again taken while driving over in southeastern Ohio. The flowers were not there but I felt it needed something in the foreground, if you look closely you will see a few small headstones in the front which were there. This is oil on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas.

I have a art show this Saturday where I will be taking a lot of my paintings and demonstrating. If the show is slow I'll still be happy because I will be painting. See you soon
