Wine Bottles

Hi! I'm a happy girl tonight, I got accepted into the Women's Art Club show. The opening is Sunday and it will hang for a month, stop by if you are in Cincinnati. They accepted "A Painting in a Painting..."

I painted this Monday from a set up. You would think looking at this that I am a wine drinker but not at all. I just found the bottles very interesting, like jewels. They are gorgeous colors and so reflective and I will try them again soon. This is oil on a 8 x 10 canvas.

Check out some of my paintings on Ebay~ I have many unframed canvases on there at a great price.

Have a wonderful day! SOLD

Spring Flowers

Hello, I have painted this jar several times and I think I am getting pretty good at it however these are not the flowers I started with. I had a cluster of other spring flowers and wiped it off and changed them out for these Daffodils. I think sometimes a simpler composition can be more pleasing.

Anyway I like it now, I used a palette knife for a lot of it. This is oil on a 8 x 10 canvas. Sorry there is a bit of glare. I hope you enjoy viewing it.

Wip and some thoughts on Plein air painting

Hi there, I have been playing around with this painting on and off for a while, there are things I like and things I may change yet. I like the glow on her face, her hair and the background but not at all sure about her dress, hmmm. Any thoughts?

I went out Monday to paint for the first time this year, after doing so I had some thoughts on things I would do different. First I should have toned my canvas and I know this, lol. Burnt sieana works really well for a landscape with the warm tone complimenting all the greens outside. Second I should have done a thumbnail sketch, a little sketch showing the composition you plan to paint. I looked around chose my subject looking through my viewfinder and jumped in. I chose a scene cropping off a couple of buildings and my focal point was a patio with benches and a table and chairs. I don't know about you but I have enough paintings and I don't need another boring painting, lol. So I brought it home and wiped it off so I have nothing to show you. I have no regrets though, the weather was great and I painted with my group and hopefully learned some things to take onto the next one.

Madison Indiana

Hello, I changed out the design of my blog, went to this simple black background. Do you like it? I thought it showed my art better than a light background.

This painting is on a 8 x 10 Raymar panel, my favorite surface to paint on. This was painted from a reference photo I took in a very quaint little town called Madison Indiana. I did most of it with a palette knife. My focus was the orange church steeple sticking up behind the row of little businesses.

Please check out some of my artwork on Ebay~ I have several unframed paintings for sale at a great price, cleaning out the old studio once again. Never ending, lol

Thank you so much for visiting!

Slicing Oranges

Hello there, I painted this a few days ago. I had several oranges that were on their last leg so I thought I should cut them up and paint them. The cutting board was made by my brother in law years ago and I love the big old knife in there. This is oil on a 8 x 10 canvas.

Please check out some of my artwork on Ebay~ I am offering several canvases unframed at a great price.

Interesting Shadows

Hello there, I painted this on Monday while hanging with my painting group. It can be so interesting to paint glass objects. They cast shadows of course and you get light going through the object. Anyway I liked the pattern I got when I put a light on this set up. I used a palette knife on the flower to create some nice texture. This is oil on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas. If I post something you might be interested in contact me at barbarapask@zoomtown.com, eventually it will probably show up on Ebay but it may head off to my studio.

My Daughter's Converse

Hi, I borrowed these shoes from my daughter, I got it in my head several weeks ago that I had to paint them, lol. She just moved so as soon as she got settled into her new place I managed to slip them away from her. Back in high school she had several pair of these in different colors and she has a couple of them yet today and I loved the purple ones. I still have them so I may try them again, this is oil on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas.

We had a good night Friday at our Pendleton studio, we sold a total of 7 paintings and one was mine, woo hoo. Eight of us have decided to renew the lease and go on for another year. I was hesitant about it but one year isn't really long enough for a new business.
