Painted still life’s with my group

Hello, today I took a box of props and set up a low table with a light and several different set ups. There were five of us painting around the table. It’s an interesting perspective, you can paint the subject closet to you or really anything on the table. I am trying to slow my process down. I did a thumbnail sketch and toned my canvas then sketched on my set up and wiped out my lights. I even pre mixed my colors today, something I do not normally do. This is water mixable oils on a 8” x 10” panel, I just did this for practice. Excuse the glare.

Painting still life’s today

Hello there! I took several set ups today for my group Arts Alliance Painters. I kept them simple so we could complete them and it feels good to go home with a completed painting. This is oil on a 8" x 10" canvas, excuse the glare.

Gift for a friend

Hello, I recently painted this little sweet dog for an online friend, this is her holding up the painting. I painted it from a screenshot, I loved how his little ear folded down. As it turned out right about the time I shipped it she had to have another one of her dogs put down. This arrived a few days later and I think it gave her some comfort. I love what I do and it’s nice once in a while to give it away, I know how much she appreciates it. I took this screenshot of her holding it up as crazy me forgot to photograph it.

Painting from Life

Hi! I took a few set ups in today for my Monday group. I set this one up in a window so it was back lit. I love working from life and I recommend it for everyone. Always so interesting to see how different artists paint the same set up. This is oil on a 8” x 10” canvas.

Playing Around

Cold day here today, stayed in and got things together for my show at Northminster on Saturday. This was fun to do, I applied modeling paste on the canvas and created the leaf pattern with a roller I ordered. Once dry I painted the bird using Golden Opens. Golden Opens are acrylic with a much slower drying time, I think they look a lot like oils. Planning to try some new things this year, I want to offer something a bit different from my traditional oils. Stay warm 🥶
