Tea Cup

Hi, I purchased this tea cup a while back at an antique store, so pretty. I got inspired to paint it after watching Jonathon Hardesty paint one on his livestream show. I started with the liquid in the cup first like he did and worked my way out from there. Not sure about this frame, just set it in there to show it framed. Fun to try a new technique, I would normally have sketched the whole thing out with paint and then painted all of it at once. I will be painting this cup again, it was fun. Enjoy your day!

My painting from Susan Carlin's workshop

Hello, Last weekend I took an online portrait workshop with Susan Carlin, a few months ago I took a still life workshop with her. I loved both of the workshops. Susan is an excellent teacher and a fun person, we had a lot of laughs in the process of learning. Susan provided the reference, this sweet little boy. Sorry I cannot share the original photo as it belongs to Susan. We painted until lunch, sent in a photo of our painting for a critique and then painted the rest of the day. A few days later she critiqued most of the class online. After that critique I worked on the painting a bit more and I am pretty happy with it now. The likeness is pretty good but there are a few smaller things. I really do think you could work on a painting forever and ever, at some point you have to say good enough. This is oil on a 8 x 10 canvas panel. There is a link on my sidebar to Susan's blog, she also paints live on ustream every Wednesday evening.

Pine Hill Park

Hello there, I painted this Wednesday at a park near my home, oil on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas. I just love red buds and wanted that to be my focus, I found a shady spot under a tree and had a great time standing there painting. A few other people from my Monday group joined me, one gal sat on a rock almost in the water painting with pastels, what a trouper.

Heading out in a few minutes to hang some of my art in a model home, don't know how that will be but better there than stored in my cupboard.

Somewhere in Europe?

Hi there, I painted this a couple of weeks ago from a reference photo from Wetcanvas. I cropped the image some and here is my result. This is oil on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas, I am showing it in a wood framed with a gold crackled finish from Dick Blick. This will be listed on Ebay tonight if you are interested in purchasing it.
I am heading back out tomorrow to paint, meeting some of my group at a park near here. It was so enjoyable last time, perfect temperature, no bugs and very little wind. Have to take advantage of this nice spring weather while it's here.

I'll post my painting soon from Susan Carlin's workshop, it was such a nice day. She is a wonderful teacher and such a nice person. If you have never taken an online workshop you should consider it if you get the opportunity.

Plein air painting

Hi there, This has to be one of the best springs I remember, the flowers and trees are gorgeous. Most springs it starts to get nice and things start to bud and then we have a freeze again but not this year. I ventured out on Wednesday with several from my Monday morning group, first time to paint outside this year. I try it several times during the summer but most of the time I'm not very happy with my result. We painted at a new park where they left the original old barn standing as the property used to be a private farm. This is oil on a 8 X 10 stretched panel, I added colors that weren't there because I am the artist and I can if I want to, lol. Anyway I may go out again this week , it was perfect.

So excited about tomorrow, I am taking an online portrait workshop with Susan Carlin. We are painting a sweet little boy, I plan to learn a lot of new things.

A Rooster

Hi everyone, I acquired this old chalkware rooster from my grandmother. I set it up with a light on it and painted it in oils. It was really fun to paint, so many colors. This is on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas. Heading out tomorrow to paint plein air, first time this year. I don't do much painting outside but I think it is good for you. Actually painting from life is always the best way to go if possible, a still life, landscape or a live model if you have the opportunity. I think if you do paint from life it helps when you paint from photographs as most of us have to do.

Chicken- 6 X 6

Hello there, I painted this little cutie on another one of those 6 X 6 gallery canvases, 1 1/2" deep. I am offering it on here with the buy it now option before posting it on Ebay. I ship only within the lower 48 states. It is $35 plus $6 shipping, check down a couple of posts as there are some others available yet also. This little painting probably wouldn't ship for a week or so, needs a little more drying time and then a coat of Soluvar varnish.

Next Saturday I will be taking another online workshop with Susan Carlin, this one will be a portrait workshop. Her link is here on my page if you want to check it out. Only $50 for the day, so worth the money.

Still life-floral

Hello there, This is oil on a 11 X 14 stretched canvas painted from a set up of fresh flowers. Not often I have fresh flowers around but as an artist I think if they are in your house we are obligated to paint them, lol. Once varnished this is the frame it will go in, a wood gold crackled frame.

I am going to leave the small paintings on the last post as a buy it now for a while longer. I painted a little chicken on one of the 6 x 6 canvases, I'll post it soon.

Hope things are wonderful in your life
