A Landscape, step by step, 16 X 20

Hi, I thought for a change I'd post the steps of one of my paintings, hopefully it will be of interest to someone. There are 5 photos. Go to the bottom photo and work up. The first I thinned down a dark color and washed it on. The second photo I started adding greens to the trees and reflections. Third photo I added the blue to the sky and water, keeping the blue out of the trees to keep it clean. Fourth photo I've added detail to the trees in the sky and added detail in the water. The final photo I've added a stone bridge. I think I'm pretty happy with it, I think the water leads your eye right back to the bridge. My reference photo was a picture I took on a river close to here, of course I added the bridge because the metal one in the photo didn't look good. Hope you find this interesting. Thanks so much!

Barbara, 1st, thank you so much for your visit.
And then, I popped over here & found your painting so beautiful.
I don't have time now, but I will be back soon and stay much longer to see more.

Hi Barbara, This is very interesting. I love to see how other artists work. The water does lead the eye right into the painting. Nice work.

Thanks for stopping by my place. :)

Hi Jo, I'm glad you feel it works. First time I've posted wip photos but I like when other artists do it.

Thank you for visiting my blog. This painting is so tranquil.. is it a scene from Ohio? I'm originally from Western Pa. You are not only an artist; also a bridge builder!

Hi Marilyn, thank you so much. Yes this is a scene on a river here in Ohio. Pennsylvania is a beautiful state, I bet you miss it.
