My Grandson

Hi, I tried my hand at a portrait again. Something about portraits once you try one they keep calling you back. This is in oil on a 8 X 10 Raymar panel. May frame it and give it to my daughter for Christmas, have to look at it for a while to decide if it's just right. Tried to think about the things I have learned about portraits, no hard edges, warm shadows and cool highlights etc. etc......

Very nice Barbara,

Nice soft edges, beautiful, thoughtful child eyes. I don't do many portraits but they are so intense. By the way, I will post the portrait I am working on hopefully by the end of the week. It may be as a WIP. It is finally at a point that I think it is decent.

Hi Anita, Thank you for your kind words. I'll look forward to you posting your portrait. It's hard to decide when any painting is done but I think you could fuss with a portrait forever, lol.

Barb,

I agree 100%. I do enjoy painting them, however. I am sort of embarrassed by the length of time this one has taken. By the way, keep doing these portraits. I think you have a gift for them.

Never thought someone would tell me I have a gift for portraits, so nice to hear.

Thanks so much Dar. I spent quite a bit of time on this one, hard to get an exact likeness of someone. Not sure it's there yet.

I was going to comment on the girl on the beach, but I love this one even more Barb. Real nice. Maybe the best portrait I have seen of yours.

Thank you Frank! I have missed you stopping by, I know you are a busy man. Your plein air trip must have been wonderful, so many great artist's. Glad you like this.
