Hello, I just finished this commission and thought I would post the process involved. I received this photo in the mail and talked to the client about what she wanted to see in the finished painting. She had taken this photo while on vacation and loved the barn and the red tree in the background. She did not want the front of the barn to be going out of the painting and she wanted the barn larger with a rusty roof. I cropped her photo as you can see using a mat that I cut at the corners, a great free tool. By cropping it, it enlarged the barn and made the front of the barn face in and the red tree really came into focus too. I painted this in oil on a 8 x 10 Raymar panel and it will be shipped to her in the gold crackled frame shown in the photo. Thought you might find this interesting. Contact me if you might be interested in having a painting of something that is special to you.

Hi Josh, Thought it might interest someone, I know back when I was learning to paint I didn't give much thought to cropping a photo. I don't know where this is, she is in Georgia but I think it is up north somewhere.
The result is stunning, Barbara! Thank you for sharing the process with your readers!
Thanks Marie, glad you like the result.
Thank you for sharing this with us Barbara - again another great 'Barbara Pask Building' !
Hi Liz, Nothing new for any of you but I always enjoy hearing the thought process that goes into a painting. That's right, it's a "Barbara Pask Building" hehe
Great job Barb! Love that rusty roof! Thanks for sharing the process! Wow! your client is going to be thrilled! Bravo!
Thanks Rosemary, they do seem happy with it. Looking forward to them receiving it, I always feel they look better in person.
I can definitely vouch for being excited about this painting as well as loving our other "Barbara Pask buildings"! Seeing some of your other buildings on your blog (and eventually in our home) is what made me contact you about painting this barn we saw in Kentucky. I think it is perfect and can't wait to put it in its new home here. Thanks so much, Barb!

Hi Lorry, Thank you for your sweet comments. I love having you as a collector and it is so great that we appreciate the same subject matter. I'll be in touch before too long.
Love the barn, the colors and the peaceful setting.
Hi Shelley, Thank you very much. Nice to have you visit.
Hi Barb! I enjoy seeing your composition stages here. You made good cropping choices. You often add a level of cheerfulness to a scene, through color, I think. It's lovely.
Hi Dar, Thank you so much, so glad you like the choices I made. Nice to see you too.
