Hello there, We have these gorgeous flowers blooming everywhere right now. We call them tiger lillies, you may have another name for them. They just grow wild and you see them on the side of the road and of course in people's yards. A wonderful splash of color. I painted this last week from a photo I took a few days before. This is oil on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas.
The last few posts I did on my blog didn't email out for some reason, please let me know in my comments if this one was emailed to you if you follow me. I didn't change anything so I'm not sure why it stopped sending out notices.

Hi Barbara,
Lovely flowers. We call them Day Lillies because each blossom only lives for one day after it opens. The orange variety with spots are called Tiger Lillies because of the coloring.
Your post did not come through my email but rather just showed up on blogger in the list of recent posts of those I follow. Does that help any? I don't believe any has ever come through my email.
Barb, Tiger Lilies grew near the creek running alongside my Grandmother's garden. This is a great memory for me. Thanks for posting. :)
Hi Carol, I always appreciate that you leave such nice comments. I was trying to determine if you "follow" my blog, that grouping of people over to the left on my page? It did email me the post so maybe it straightened itself out, good thing because I didn't know what to do about it, lol.
Thank you Debra. That is the most rewarding thing as an artists isn't it? Paint something that brings back a nice memory, happy it did that for you.
Yes, I follow your blog under Michael & Carol Blackburn. For some reason my picture doesn't show up; it's one of the generic silouettes on the last page of your followers.
Love your great composition and color in this one, Barb!
Hi Barbara, Tiger lilies in SouthAfrica are cultivated in gardens, but I have never seen them grow wild. So you are very fortunate. This is a lovely pleasant painting!
Thanks for checking back Carol, I thought I had it set up where anyone that followed my blog received the post in an email. Someone helped me set that up, I'm not very tech savy.
Thanks so much Dean, I like this one too. I just jump all over in subject matter but I love everything.
Hi Marie, So happy you like it. I guess we are lucky that they grow wild, every part of the world has something special about it.
What a lovely composition Barbara! Love the splash of colour that those lilies make. As Marie said, we cultivate Tiger Lilies here, but these look a lot like Day lilies (which are also cultivated!)
Hi Liz, Thank you. I used a palette knife on the lillies to create some texture in the foreground. Glad you like it.
