Her Father's Eyes

Hi, I am entering this piece and the previous one of the street performer in a juried show for August. I threw around a lot of names for this one but even though you can only see one of her eyes really well I think the name will make you stop and take a good look at her. This is oil on a 11 X 14 Raymar panel. The show isn't actually until September but of course you have to enter early. I wanted her to be painterly and interesting, hopefully she is. I named the previous one Singing the Blues.

Hi Barbara,

I'm playing "catch-up" here. Great portrait, but after looking at "Singing the blues", I think a warmer background might have worked on this one too. It's still a good portrait, but the difference is the warmth of the background. Good luck with the juried show!

I know when I changed the background on the Street Performer he really stood out but I wanted this one to feel light sky and that the sunlight is hitting her. Backgrounds are so important and difficult.
