Engrossed in the game

Hello there, This is one of my grandsons, I painted this from a photo I took at Christmas. As you can see he is really into his game, best time to get photos. He was laying in our leather chair and stretched across the foot stool with his feet being the closet thing to me. I loved the way his hair is catching the light and if you look closely just a bit of that light is hitting his eyelashes. So fun to paint. This is oil on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas.

I love it, Barbara. It is such a gentle painting, almost like a Pear's ad!

Hi Marie, Thank you so much. I googled Pear's ads to see what they are. I like them very much, I'll take that as a compliment. :)

Hi Barbara...we kinda met on Susan Carlin's Ustream then I stumbled on your blog at Deano's Den. Just wanted to get in here and say I really like your painting of your grandson. Grandkids sure do make great subjects, don't they. I've become one of your followers. Come by and visit me at my blog.

Hi there Lokelani, Love your name, what is the origin of your name? I'm glad you like my painting, it is nice to have several grandchildren, endless subjects, lol.

Lokelani is Hawaiian...means Rose of Heaven. Have lived stateside many, many years and with my grandchildren here, I call it home. Do miss Hawaii though.

I thought it sounded Hawaiian, just lovely. I have never visited there but I sure hope to one day.

Barb, this is adorable! He is engrossed (I have two grandsons so am familiar with the "look"). Love the way you handled the light and the comfortable position of his feet! You have a talent for photography as well as painting! I bet his mom loves this one!

Hi Rosemary, Thank you very much, I am painting this again on a 16 x 20. I liked the pose so much I thought I would start one possibly for a art thing on down the road.

What a wonderful composition! I remember the "Game Boy" days when my kids were little, and last year is was the "DS's." Now they are saving to buy their own laptops. They grow up too fast!

This was just this Christmas so I guess it couldn't be a Game Boy, I will have to find out, lol. They do love their games.

Thank you Irene, I just started this again on a 16 x 20 canvas, thinking it might be good to enter into a show later this year.
