Granny Smiths

Hello there, I painted this last week from a set up, a old copper teapot and some wonderful Granny smith apples. I wanted to keep things dark and the star of the show be the apples. I have been painting still lifes like crazy, I think when you are forced inside in the winter painting from a set up is great practice. This is oil on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas. Stay warm

Lovely use of greens Barbara - I like my Granny Smiths with salt. These look ready to eat.

Greens can be so difficult and you did a masterful job with these Grannys! Love the push-pull of the warm cool. Applause!

Beautiful greens! Nice values changes, too. Well done!

Thank you Bill! Never heard of salting Granny Smiths, my hubby salts honey dew melon. I eat salty pretzels with chocolate on them, is that similar? lol

thank you so much Debra. I am pretty pleased with my latest still lifes, some of course are better than others. I feel they are a lot more exciting than most of my previous paintings. Maybe I'm on to something??? maybe? :)
