Sunflowers

Hello, this one is acrylics on a 10" x 10" stretched canvas. It will be varnished glossy and wired to hang with no frame.  I was thinking the other day that I don't think I have painted with oils in probably a year and a half, I just don't miss them. There are so many wonderful things you can do acrylics and so many advantages compared to oil. Most of the oils I painted were wet into wet, I am not a patient person, lol.  I can layer and layer with the acrylics without much drying time. I think when you learn how to paint you can work in most mediums. Edges are such an important part of painting maybe the most important, actually composition, values and then edges I think.  I am so blessed to pursue my passion of painting, I love my life.

Thank you for checking in on me.

This is a beautiful floral, Barbara. My friend only works with acrylic and loves it. He builds up layers of paint like you.. to me his paintings look like oil by the time he finishes. I love the splashes of green in the Sunflowers!!!!

Love the looseness of this Barb. One of these days I'll get there.

Have I already told you, I can now recognize one of your paintings as yours before I even see that it's your post? These are so beautiful, full of life and energy. And your words are such a nice tribute to your love of painting!

Thank you Hilda. I find them so versatile, they work well for everything and you're right depending on how you use them you can't tell them from oils.

Thanks Sharon. With this wet process they just flow all over. Try using a bigger brush so you have less control and you will be looser if that's your goal.

That is wonderful to hear Meredith as I think we are all looking for our own distinct style. You're sweet to keep up with me.

A great job, Barbara! I used to paint exclusively with acrylics for years. I still enjoy their benefits. Quick drying, layering, etc.
But oils have their own attributes. So I wind up switching now and then.

You have such success with acrylics! I love the texture you create and the color mixing is great - they are very different from oils in that aspect. Quick drying is a plus!
