Hi, I painted this last night on a 10 X 10 stretched canvas. The edges are painted so no need for a frame. I thought these were primrose now I'm not sure, do you know? I'm planning to do an event in June called Art in the Garden so I'm trying to paint some things that would appeal to people coming to that event. Different for me but I had fun doing it. Enjoy your day. Barb

Hi Barbara...I don't know what they're called, but I like them. They look good against the suggested background.
Thanks Dean, I thought it was bright and sunny. My search continues for the name. Barb
Can't help you with the name on those Barb. But the painting looks great. A bit of a different design for you. I like it.
Thank Frank, It is fun to do something a bit different sometimes, like you and your sweet still lifes. Barb
Barbara--I'd guess nasturtiam (sp.?). Beautiful painting regardless.
Hi Jack, Nice to meet you. I was told by someone that they're California poppies. You're right though they do look a bit like nasturtiams. Please stop by again. Barb
Barbara, I am sure they are poppies so the person who suggested Californian poppies I think is right. They have that thin, papery texture to the petals which the light shines through in a sort of diffused way. I think you have captured that very well here! Very nice painting!
Hi Sheila, Glad you stopped by and I'm glad you're back up and posting again. Love your stuff! Barb
Very strong painting, Barb; colorful and interesting.
As far as identification of the flower, it's hard to know for sure without seeing the foliage, size and location/time of year.
But it does look like the California poppy to me too. Nasturtium flowers don't usually look very tall compared to the leaves, plus the center of the flower is dark on the nasturtium.
Hi Diana, I'm glad you like it. It's a bit different for me but it was fun to paint. I think I have to agree it must be California poppies, several people have told me so. Barb
