Hello, I went from a portrait of a very young girl to a portrait of a very old woman. This is my 95 year old grandmother. She lives in a nursing home near by and they have a red hat club there. I thought this was a cute picture of her and I plan to give her the painting for Christmas. This is in oil on a 8 X 10 canvas panel. I plan to take a still life set up on Monday for my group to paint, time for a fall still life with pumpkins, gourds and mums. My husband and I are going to an outside Halloween party Saturday night. We are dressing like a couple from the eighties, he is dressing like Don Johnson from Miami Vice and I am dressing like Madonna. Not Madonna with cones but how she looked when she started out, lol. Have a great weekend.

Very sensitive Barb,
It is obvious that you care about your subject here. This has a very soft feel like all your portraits. I think I like this the best so far!
Hi neetzy, I appreciate your visits and I love your nice comments. It was kind of fun to paint someone older with all of their wrinkles and folds.
She looks a young 95-she will like that. We visited at Susan's demo today and now reading your blog all about the cones makes sense. :)
Hi wcaro, thank you for stopping by, I hope grandma likes this. So fun watching Susan paint, I always look forward to it.
I think you've used the colours very skilfully here Barbara. I love that kind of muted feel you achieve. I'm sure your grandmother will love that. On another level, what did Madonna wear before cones? Have a great time!
HI Sheila, Thank you, so glad you like it. I wore lace gloves with the fingers out, lots of jewelry and a big bow in my hair. Trying to look like she did when she started out. She has had lots of different looks over the years, not all good, lol.
Barbara what a nice painting! Your doing alot of hats lately! Theyre great!!! your colors are really so soft -nice.
Well thank you Laine, I'm pleased to see you stop by and I'll be over to visit you soon.
