Still life, blue & white vase

Hi, I set up this still life on Monday morning for my group, I really love blue & white. I think I am pretty happy with this, I had put gesso with red acrylic paint on the canvas and of course it came out pink. Anyway the pink canvas showed through a bit on the vase and I think it gave it a nice glow. It's in oil on a 8 X 10 canvas panel. Quickly turning into fall here in Ohio, I like fall but not the winter weather that follows. brrrr. Happy painting. SOLD

Lovely. I agree with you about the pink glow coming through on the vase. It's great! I know all about those Ohio winters (grew up in Cleveland), but the falls are wonderful. Enjoy!

Hi Sarah, Thank you for stopping by. You grew up in Cleveland, it's a small world. I do love fall

Hi Barbara! This is really one of the best Ive seen of your work. The values are varied nicely and the color & composition are so good ( I really like the pink glow! - have heard of others using a red ground but never tried that myself - may after seeing this!!).

Hi Laine, Thank you so much, I hadn't painted a still life in a while but it was fun. I've used more of a red tone on my canvas too, typically I like it when someone leaves it showing throughout their canvas but I have a tough time not covering it up.

Beautiful Barb. The glass really glows.

Hi Karen, Thank you, I'm glad you like it. Painting is exciting, partly because you are never quite sure of the end result. At least for me it's that way.

This painting glows. Beautiful! The vase shines, the flowers show beautiful texture. Excellent. BTW I spent two winters in Cleveland Heights. They know how to do winter in Cleveland.

Thank you again Anita for your wonderful complement. Cleveland is several hours north of us so their winters are worse than ours. Just don't like being cold or too hot, just like to complain, lol.
