Bet you are not surprised to come here and find another portrait lol. I painted this yesterday when I met with my group. I am painting other things too, I did a cat recently and the challenge for Karin Jurick. I may post those soon, I am a busy gal and loving it. This is oil on a 8 X 10 canvas panel. I gessoed the panel and put in some black acrylic paint to start with a gray background. I recently purchased a dvd of Kinstler and he recommended the gray canvas. I kept the background loose this time and I think I like it. Happy painting~

I'm with you..I like it too! I'm a huge fan of using a toned support!
Thanks Dean. I feel when the background is loose the focus is on the face. Just keep trying different things.
You are busy - I like the hair, great natural colors.
Thank you Bill, I am constantly painting. You put out a lot of art work too.
Barbara she is beautiful! You are very good at portraits! You evoke so much personality, one can almost believe you have met the person. I love the background and agree, you don't want competition for the focus.
Hi Carol, I love it when you visit, you say such encouraging things. It means so much to me when people take the time to comment on my work.
Hey Barbara, I am giving you an Art Blog Award cut & paste from mine. You deserve it. If you choose to, list 7 things you love and then list 7 fellow bloggers. Then notify the 7 that they have received awards.
very pretty, you capture a sweet expression. the light plays nicely across her face.
Thank you Dean, I'm glad you feel I deserve it. I appreciate you too.
Hi Dar, Thank you, I chose this one because I liked the light on her face and hair, glad you like it.
