Still life- crock & apples

Hi there, I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am thankful for so many things and among them are the people that visit my blog. Blogging has been a wonderful addition to my life.

I painted this last week from a set up, I received this crock as a birthday present and had to paint it. This is oil on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas.

I heard on the Christmas card competition, I was told that the representative loved my painting but didn't choose it because it was a church. I knew it wasn't "politically correct" but it was the image I wanted to paint. So I'm not too disappointed, it will be my Christmas card.

I will not go quietly into the night...
They "liked it" (the church painting) but felt it politcally incorect?!
Well let me tell ya...
A church represents(to me)the LORDS
house!
Christmas is a celebration of our
dear Saviors birth.
A Christmas card is sent to share
& enjoy this special time.
A painting is done by an inspired
Artist.
The artist has feelings to this church.
This is a Christmas card competition, and this is politically incorrect??!
I protest!
What do they want,peter rabbit?
How dare they. Really!
If you take Christ out of Christmas, you get santa.
If you get santa, your into commercial stuff,at Christmas!?
That's Totally incorrect!
(Sorry santa, you do have a place in our hearts. But your a cartoon!) I don't want hate mail, and no my name is not Ebineser.
I'm not saying they chose a santa

card.
But to disqualify or not choose
an entry because of "PC" is obsurd.
Where does it end? It doesn't!
They'll take all the ground they can get.
I'm not ashamed of the Gospel.
Christmas is the beginning of our
chance for redemption.
It leads to questions, and learning.
People make choices. Lives get saved. Blessings abound. It's the will of God.
Well Barb, I commented.
I dont want to embarrass you, I'm
not a crazy person.
But sometimes you have to speak up, stand your ground. Defend your rights.
And another thing, if it was "PC"
they should have called it a winter card, or a holiday card.
Then we could have made 'em a snow man. With a carrot nose!:)

Thanks for you comment Bill, I agree. It was a Christmas card competition and Christmas is a christian holiday. I painted what my heart told me too so I have don't have any regrets. Maybe the representative should have taken a stand but you know politicians, they want to appeal to the masses.

Hi Barb!
I understand what you're saying.
May I ask who this politian is?
Who is this representative?
My "blog" is my link to the world.
I've got a great Idea!
I'm inspired to go to the masses.

Hi again Bill, You are so nice to care about this. I just went back and reviewed the flyer for the contest, I spoke too soon in calling it a Christmas card contest. The flyer says "Holiday card". Someone mentioned Christmas card to me and that stuck in my head. To me, it is Christmas. Christmas card, Christmas tree and I say "Merry Christmas". I don't really want to put his name out there, I was notified by a second party that they chose not to place my card because "of any religious connotations that might be brought up". Oh well, have to move on. I ordered my own Christmas cards with the image.

Wow. Thank you Bill for saying it for me. MERRY CHRISTMAS. This is AMERICA where we have always celebrated The birth of Christ on Christmas. If anyone else wants to celebrate another way, well this IS America, so go for it, BUT don't tell us how to celebrate our holidays here. I am sick of all this Happy Holidays BS so as to avoid "offending" (can you believe this?) anyone who might not be Christian. Give me a break!
I love the church painting, Barb and please forgive the rant. This just burns me up.

Go Mary! I totally agree. People want to change Christmas to something it isn't. I couldn't say it better than you and Bill.
