My Daughter

Hi,  I watched a dvd I have of Richard Schmid's the other night called The Captain.  He starts with the eyes and goes onto the nose and mouth.  He used bristle brushes, so close up there is a lot of texture in the face,  very interesting.  I tried to paint this the same way,  I started with the eyes and used mostly bristle brushes.  I may work on the skin a bit and smooth it out,  not sure.  I painted this in oil on a 11 X 14 canvas,  I think it looks like my daughter Brandy and I hope she does.  I painted her several months ago when I was just starting to paint portraits and this is sooo much better so hopefully several months from now I can do it again and be better yet.  That is my goal.  Have a great day!

Hi Bev, I think it is hardest to make the subject happy, we spend our whole life looking in the mirror and see our image different than everyone else. I'll have to see what her husband thinks. It did pass the Mommy test though. Love that

Thanks so much Dar, she has beautiful blue eyes and long lashes but I didn't really show that. Best of all she is a wonderful person. :)
