Roses on the Porch ~ Plein Air Competition

Hello there, I took this photo a while back, the roses caught my eye on the front porch of an old house. I left the porch post in the painting because I thought it added more depth to the painting. This is acrylic on a 11" x 14" stretched canvas. Saturday I attended a plein air competition in Waynesville Ohio. Waynesville is a sweet historic town filled with sweet old buildings. I sat across from this blue house and spent my day painting it, acrylic on a 8 x 10 canvas. I framed it quickly and took it to the tent to be juried. The judge was wonderful, he called up every artist individually and critiqued their painting. He only had nice things to say about mine so I was hopeful it would win something. My great news is I took first place! I forgot my camera and a friend provided me with this, I'll get a better photo later. I left the painting in a gallery in town for the next four weeks. I love to paint so but it sure is up and down, sometimes I think I do not need another painting
and then something positive happens like this. I'll just keep painting and learning. Thanks for visiting me

Hi Meredith, I did get your email, thank you so much. It was an exciting day and so so great to win. I'll be picking it up in a few weeks and photograph it then unless of course it sells, hmm. That would be great :)
