Hi, I went to the Cincinnati Art museum on Saturday with a group to paint. It is such fun and I highly recommend it if you never tried it. They allow you to come in and do it anytime. You have to set up 4 ft. away and bring a drop cloth. I painted Edward Potthast's Playtime, almost sure that is the name. We only had around 3 hours so I wanted a fairly simple one, my husband did not understand why they did not have faces, lol. I painted it in oil on a 11 X 14 canvas panel.

Hi Barbara. Wow, you got so much down in three hours! I am impressed! Funny, I have never thought of painting in an Art Museum but it could be interesting. I wonder if they would allow it here in SA?
Hi Carol, You should check into it. I copied one of Sargent's paintings a while back but there is nothing like copying a painting in person. The art museum here is so great about allowing it but I guess all art museums don't allow it. Hope you try it.
That's such a good study opportunity. Not all museums are so artist-friendly, which seems sad and stupid.
So glad to hear you have handy access to masterpieces to learn from!
You know, I've wondered if I could take paint into the MFA in Boston. I've only seen sketching going on. Although I extol the benefits of copying, I never do it. Should take my own advice!
