Hello there, I just love yellow and white houses in the sunlight, I get more excited about painting those than anything else I think. This was painted last week in town, this house sits right in the middle of town and the afternoon sun was hitting it. The main street in town has sooo much traffic, it's very noisy and challenging when you are trying to paint across the street looking in between cars and trucks going by blocking your subject. While painting, a school bus was stopped at the traffic light by me and some of the children wanted to see what I was painting, I held up my painting and several of them applauded it. So cute, don't think anyone every applauded my art before. Isn't that great? it made my day. This is oil on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas.

Aw, that's so great! I applaud you as well. As always, your work is imbued with a sweet nostalgia. I've been quiet, but I've been watching. Great work.
Hi Barbara, I am impressed you were painting in plein air. I haven't done that for a while.
I was thrilled to hear from you. I haven't been able to keep up with Susan since I don't have unlimited internet access. :-(
Well hi there Dar, I have missed you. I keep checking your blog for updates. Nice to know you check in on me, I'm still busy fighting the fight. Glad you like this and thank you for taking time to comment.
Hi Peggy, I have been painting outside all summer, normally at least one day a week. One of the galleries in town will be having a show for our plein air pieces, we stayed on the main drag so we would be visible to people driving through town. I have 15 or so paintings, I think it's over now though as it's cooled off. Nice of you to visit me too, glad to see you have been painting. Happy painting Peggy
I love how you've captured the sunlight on this house. Great job. Also, I applaud your plein air paintings. I tried a couple of time to do plein air, but results were poor, so I gave it up. Maybe I will try again.
Thank you Lokelani. You should try it again. I painted outside for two straight summers and hated most of what I painted, last year I didn't get out at all and this year I was out at least once a week and loved it. It gets easier and like anything if we keep at it hopefully we improve. I'm hooked now and can't wait until next spring. Good to see you.
Beautiful work, Barbara! The brightly lit yellow wall causes me to applaud! A great touch.
Barbara, an applaud well deserved! I admire you for sticking to plein air painting. I have been trying plein air off and on myself and find it can be frustrating.
That must have been an awesome moment! I can see why that yellow house had you inspired.
Thanks Dean, you are always so supportive. :)
Hi Carol, I used to joke "outside bad, inside good" lol. Keep at it, its gets so much better.
Hi Fay, So happy you like it, thanks for visiting.
I love the reflected light on the side of the yellow house. Beautiful painting, great lights, and darks!
Thanks so much Nancy. I am using this smaller painting and painting it again in a 16 x 20.
