"Dance with Me"
Hi Everyone, If you recall I submitted two paintings to a gallery near here for a competition called "Dance with Me". The opening will be next Saturday the 12th, nice idea for Valentines day. Last year I painted something that was inspired by Klimt's Kiss, it opened about the same time last year. I submitted two and one was accepted, so hard to know what the judge will like. This is the one they accepted, an 8 x 10 in oil. I called it "First Dance", I wanted the couple to stand out from the background. I used a palette knife on her dress and it created some nice texture. I thought the piece they refused was really good but that's they way it goes. I guess when I get to the opening everything there will be much better than the piece of mine they refused??? Probably not, lol. Art is so subjective isn't it? Do I sound bitter, I'm not. I'm really very happy to be in the show and hoping I will bring home a prize. Have a great day!

Who can ever tell with judges, eh? But a BIG congrats on getting the "First Dance" accepted. It's beautiful. I love the silhouette feel to the background people. Great job!!
And thanks for the nice words on my piece.
This is beautiful, Barbara. Congratulations to you!
Thank you Laura. I am really happy to get in, they rejected several people I know.
Thank you Carol, I am pretty happy with it. :)
Oh, sooooo nice! you have a wonderful touch on the dress.... like it is moving. I like the way you painted the rest of the attendees in the background. Very good!
Thanks Sunny! Using a palette knife on the dress gave it a nice feel. I appreciate your visits.
Simple.....elegant....a moment in time. It is lovely Barb. And, hey, jurying is half the battle! Have a great show; you deserve it, you work so hard. :)
