Day at the Beach
Hello and Happy New Year,
Sorry I haven't posted for a bit, between the holiday and being sick this is the first thing I have painted in a while. I finally did a little painting last night and felt like a bird was the right thing to paint. The photo of the seagull came from a reference photo on Paint my Photo. This is acrylic on a 8 x 10 canvas.
Have a wonderful safe holiday.

Teapot & Pear
Hello and Happy Holidays, Christmas is almost here and I think I am ready. Still sneaking in some painting time. I started this Monday and finished it today. This is acrylic on a 8 x 10 canvas. I painted the canvas black first and applied texture
. I have painted on black canvases before and I like it. Kind of nice to lay color on that black canvas, I tried to let some of it peek through the finished painting.
If I don't see you before Christmas have a wonderful safe Merry Merry Christmas.
Hugs to all of you

Ginger
Hi there, This little painting is one of my granddogs Ginger, I gave it to my son in law yesterday for his birthday. This is acrylic on a 5 x 7 canvas.
I am the chairperson for a group of artists, we meet weekly. I feel so blessed to hang with a group of people that share my love of art. We had our little Christmas party today and played the game where you can steal each others gifts. It was wild and crazy, lol. Sooo much stealing, lol.
I hope you are enjoying the holidays. Please consider entering your email address in my "Google Group" box to receive my posts.
Have a wonderful day
Just wanted to tell you about my good news. I was just notified I am a winner with North Light books. I entered a mixed-media competition. They chose my painting to be published in a book that is supposed to come out this next September. I'll keep you posted.

Champagne
Hello, I painted this a few days ago from a set up. I really don't drink wine or champagne but I grab up the bottles to paint. This is acrylic on a 8 x 10 canvas, I really like the deep rich green color of the bottle.
Starting to give some thought to a competition piece for February, this is at a local gallery and the theme is Shakespeare. So many things to choose from, my head is swimming.
Thank you so much for visiting, love reading your comments.

Mixed Media ~ Pink Dress
Hi there, Having more fun trying new things with mixed media. I applied a patterned paper to this 8 x 10 canvas. I had painted this dress in oils on another canvas, I cut it out and applied it to the canvas then I added a raised vine pattern. Lastly I added a metallic gold paint to the edges and raised design. Sorry this is a bit blurry, I was having issues uploading. So many ideas running around in my head for creative things to do with this process. I ordered six 24" x 30" canvases, quite large for me. Now I have to figure out what I want to do with them, ahhh. lol
Happy Thanksgiving to those of you that celebrate.

Secret Artworks
Hi there, Artworks is based in Cincinnati Ohio, they do many many things and among them are painting large murals on the sides of buildings downtown. Secret Artworks is their big fundraiser that they have once a year. Artist submit 5" x 7" paintings unsigned and people attend the event paying $100 and that includes appetizers, drinks and they get to choose one of our little paintings. You don't know who the artist is until you choose your painting and the information is on the back. I have donated paintings to the event for the last 4 years. The event was tonight so I think it's ok to show you my little paintings.
I did submit 2 paintings to Representative Beck's holiday card contest. Last year I won and this year one of my paintings took an honorable mention. The opening was Monday night and the paintings will hang for about a month in the Mason Community Center on Mason Montgomery Rd. Stop by and see the show if you are in the area. He went in a very different direction this year and chose a sketch of a bare tree with a single ornament hanging on it.
Have a great weekend.

Christmas Gift ~ "In Flight"
Hi, I am working on a few smaller paintings to sell in my studio during the Christmas season. I think it is hard to choose art for someone else but I think if they are priced right they make nice gifts. I will have this painting on here for a week or so with a buy now option, after that I will take it to my studio if it doesn't sell by then.
This cute little painting measures 4" X 12" on a stretched canvas with painted edges so you do not need a frame. You can purchase it through paypal for $60, shipped only within the continental US.
See you soon.

Bridal Gown
Hi there, This is another new painting enjoying the process of mixed media. I applied the patterned paper, painted the bridal gown and added a raised pattern with a stencil and finished off the edges and pattern with metallic gold. This is painted on a 10" X 20" stretched canvas that is 1 1/2" deep.
The art show in Indian Hill was a fun event. We had a good crowd Friday night with yummy food and Saturday though quieter was a great time to visit with the other artists. I sold 2 paintings, I of course of hoping for more but it just seems to be a tough time to sell art. However I just keep creating it because that is what I do and I love it so.

Having some fun
Hi Friends, This is quite different for me and I like it. I have been playing around lately with some mixed media. I applied a patterned paper to the canvas first then applied texture with medium. I painted on my pear and then with a stencil added the raised vine pattern on the right and lastly used metallic gold paint on the edges and the raised vine. I have worked very hard for years to learn to paint in a very traditional style however I am just having a ball with this. I can do both, right? I don't want to get too crafty but I think I can add some of this and still show that I can paint. What do you think? This is painted on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas.
Hope you enjoy it, there will be more to follow. lol
Tomorrow I hang my art for the Indian Hill Fine Art Collectors Weekend, the show is
Friday night and Saturday, super excited to be a part of this show.
Thank you so much for stopping by

Fall
Hi, I was in the mood to paint something for Fall. I wanted to paint a pumpkin and of course blue being the complement to orange I thought this worked and I threw in a few sunflowers. This is acrylic on a 8" X 10" stretched canvas. This painting is available on a buy now option through Paypal for $170 with free shipping, shipped only within the continental US.

I Feel Pretty
Hi, When I was trying to think of a title for this little painting the song "I Feel Pretty" came to mind. One of those silly little songs that gets stuck in your head from time to time, if you find yourself singing it after this don't blame me, lol.
This painting was painted from a set up, it is acrylic on a 6" X 6" museum quality Raymar panel. I am offering this with a buy now option on Paypal, $80 with free shipping. Shipped only within the continental US.

Tiny Paintings
Hello, I have been getting ready to do a local art show in a few weeks in Indian Hill in Cincinnati. I am super excited to do this show for the first time and have great hopes for it. I painted these tiny little paintings to fit these two custom gold frames I bought a while back. The paintings are oil and measure 2 1/2" x 3 1/2". I am taking these paintings, several 6" x 6" paintings and many 8 x 10's as space is limited.
I hope things are good in your life and thank you for checking in on me.

Colors of Fall
Hello, I painted this from a reference photo I took a few years ago. It is a little early here yet for fall colors assuming we will have any with our very dry year. I just loved this row of orange trees reflecting in the lake. This one I based in with acrylics then pre mixed my oils and went over it. That was a good way to work as it kept my oils clean knowing exactly where I was going. This is painted on a 8 x 10 canvas and will be available after some drying time.
Good of you to visit, please take time to comment. I love reading them!

Rose of Sharon
Hi, Another little flower painting. I have this gorgeous Rose of Sharon bush next to my house so I cut a few and put them in one of the little Ball jars that I have. The flowers are fun to paint but this jar is just too much fun. This is acrylic on a 8 x 10 canvas. I applied texture first in a kind of sunburst pattern.
Thank you for visiting. :)

Crabapples or is it Crab Apples??
Hello there, Last week I was looking at a very ugly tree in our yard, a rather deformed old Crabapple tree and I noticed how great it looked with the little apples growing on it. I just had to go out and cut a few limbs and try to paint it. This is acrylic on a 8 x 10 canvas and I'm pretty pleased with the outcome. Hope you enjoy it.
I am so busy right now painting some very large paintings. I'll tell you more about it later but I am painting for a gallery in Texas. I have two 30" x 40" paintings going right now, very large for me.
Have a great day!

A Two Bottle Day
Hi there, I am not a wine drinker but I thought this title was humorous. I really had a great time with this one. I taped off four squares on the front, applied medium let that dry then applied tissue paper for more texture. The last thing I did before painting was to add that fan texture. I am really into adding more interesting elements into my paintings so when you get up close you see the added texture. This is acrylic on a 8 x 10, 1 1/2" deep gallery canvas. The ridges are catching some light so they appear lighter than they are, added a close up view too. Great of you to visit, please comment.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Red Geraniums
Hi there, Can you tell I like flowers? I guess I must, lol. This is acrylic on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas. I really do paint other things but flowers just seem to draw me in. I have included a close up view also.
August 3rd is First Friday at the Middletown Pendleton art center, stop by if you are near there. It's 5-9 Friday and 11-3 Saturday. Saturday I know I will not be there as I am attending a plein air paint out in Milford Ohio. Ohio Plein Air Society paints in Milford every year and I join them, such a cute town. We paint all day and then have a wet paint sale in the afternoon.
Have a wonderful weekend.

White Daisies
Hi, I painted this last week and I set up some silk daisies to look at. This is acrylic on a 8 x 10 stretched canvas. I applied lots of layers and used a palette knife on the flowers. Something I like about this is the whole painting has a soft look but yet the white flowers stand out. I have included a close up view also.
Hope you enjoy viewing it.
Have a wonderful day and please visit again.

Red Poppies
Hello there, I just finished a 3 day workshop with the amazing artist Chuck Marshall. It was a plein air workshop, we worked in and out of the rain. We did a lot of starts, painting 3 or 4 paintings each day. I came home after and made notes for myself, things to keep reminding myself, "block in the large shapes", "lay on clean colors on top with a gentle touch" and most importantly for me think "design, design, design".
I painted this one recently, acrylics on a 8 x 10, 1 1/2" deep canvas. I toned the canvas red and allowed a lot of that red to peek through. This was painted mostly with a palette knife and at the end I allowed thinned down red paint to drip from my poppies.
So happy to see you, you do know I can see you don't you? hmm, lol

Sunflowers
Hello, As some of you know I have been working with acrylics a lot lately. I have been trying different things and I really like this one. I like the abstract background with the sunflowers painted on top. This is painted on a 12" x 12" stretched canvas. I appreciate your feedback. This painting journey is challenging and so much fun.
Have a wonderful day ~ Thank you for visiting

Tiger Lilly
Hi Folks! I painted this last week during Paint the Town in Loveland, there were Tiger lilies growing along the bike trail and I just love them. This is acrylic on a 6 X 6 canvas that is 1 1/2" deep. You can set it on a shelf or hang it on the wall. I did something a bit different with this one, after I finished I used medium and applied a vine pattern to the front. The medium dries pretty much clear and is raised, an interesting touch I think. Hope you can see the pattern well enough. You can purchase this with a buy now option on Paypal, pretty sure you don't even have to sign up to buy. This is $50 with free shipping anywhere within the continental US. Please be advised the colors in the actual painting may vary from the image you see on screen due to my digital camera results and your monitor.
Have a great weekend!
