Walk in the park, again

Thought I'd take another try at this. I painted it larger this time, 11 X 14 and changed the colors just a bit. I like the opening in the woods with the orange sunlight coming across the trail, I'm not completely sure of the foreground though. Appreciate your input.

I see that no one has taken you up on the input giving on this one, so I will.
I think it is a good start, but in my opinion, the values seem to be off. The light (orange) should be lighter in value than the shadow on the ground.
The foreground might benefit from some texture of some sort. texture comes forward, and you have more of that going on in the background right now.

Hi Frank, Thank you for critiquing this, I liked some things about this a lot but sometimes you need another eye. I'll lighten the orange and figure out what I want to do with the foreground. Thanks so much

You could do that, or try darkening the blue on the path directly behind the yellow. The ground in front of the yellow is actually a darker value and reads well. The blue behind it is where it is a little light.
Darken that a bit and that yellow will really pop the way you wanted it to without whitening the yellow any and loosing it's punch.
Dont mean to tell you what to do, but I know that you probably dont mind.

I don't mind at all, I would have lightened the yellow. See that's why you're a famous artist and I'm still chugging along, lol. Susan Carlin uses a color that is just called Beige, I purchased some. It's nice to lighten colors as it's a warm light color, where the white is cold. I think I like it.

I love the colour in this one. The shock of the bright colour works well.

Thanks Barbara, It is a bit brighter than it actually was but not much. Glad you like it.

I like the orange. I think it is very dramatic but you should probably balance it with some similar orange in the background. I like the looseness of this painting.

Thanks Anita, I have worked on this a bit more but still trying to decide what else to do. I darkened the path behind the orange as Frank suggested and I may take your suggestion and add some of the orange in the background. I'm just not sure what exactly to do in the foreground because I want it dark. Frank says add texture there so I'm thinking dark trees????
